During this lesson you learn from LiCalab’s experience in recruiting and managing the user community. Before even start to design, it is paramount to really understand the user’s need. Much is there to learn about empathizing with your end user and uncover the real problem and challenge. There is a difference between identifying the need (needs assessment) and the need analysis. In this webinar you take a deeper dive into the problem framing: the who, why what, where and when. Webinar will provide you with tools to plan a needs assessment for individuals or communities.

From qualitative, to quantitative and mixed methods, you will be exposed to the main research methodologies, as they relate to living lab research on various topics such as health and wellbeing. You will be introduced to various techniques of data collection as you venture in designing a project using qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methodology. From formulating a research question to identifying the appropriate strategies to answer your research question, you will design your very own measurement instruments, e.g., a short questionnaire, or prepare for a focus group. In doing so, you will also learn how to interpret the scores and findings of the different measurement instruments and techniques. Finally, you will be invited to reflect on existing measures and the information they provide within the context of living lab research.
